McFarlane Releases Photos of NHL Series 20

New Lineups Feature Sports Picks Debut for a Three Players, Sequels to Three Players, and a Re-paint of an Emerging Canadian Star

McFarlane has released photos of their upcoming NHL Series 20 Sports Picks. It features the Sports Picks debut for a trio of players, sequels to three players, and a re-paint of an emerging Canadian superstar. Each figure will be offered in the NHL's new RBK EDGE uniform, showcasing a new look for a classic game.

The NHL 20 lineup includes:

DANIEL BRIÈRE: Brière made noise as a Phoenix Coyote, but he truly arrived in his final season in Buffalo, racking up 95 points as the Sabres rolled to the Eastern Conference Finals. Free agency landed him in Philadelphia, where he spearheads the re-vamped Flyers offense.

JAROME IGINLA 3: He started his hockey career as a goalie, and as a catcher for Canada's National Junior Baseball team, but Jarome Arthur-Leigh Adekunle Tig Junior Elvis Iginla's destiny was to score goals - 374 and counting, to be exact. Despite his gaudy statistics, Iginla is no genteel winger; he's just as likely to defend a teammate by any means necessary. Calgary's dynamo was named captain in October 2003, and continues to be the fuel that feeds the Flames.

JONATHAN CHEECHOO: Sure, his name doesn't give you any clue, and he plays his hockey in California. But with a hometown like "Moose Factory," you can be sure that Cheechoo is as Canadian as it gets. The Sharks' top gun has delivered 153 goals in his first five seasons, and remains one of the main reasons San Jose is the team no one wants to face in the Western Conference.

NICKLAS LIDSTROM 2: The James Norris Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL's top "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position." The Red Wings captain is the defending Norris trophy owner, having won his sixth trophy in 2008 to tie Doug Harvey for the second-most career Norris Trophies (Bobby Orr has eight). Lidstrom became the first European-born player to captain a team to a Stanley Cup championship.
VESA TOSKALA: Toskala spent four seasons sharing net time in San Jose before a trade to Toronto gave him the full-time starting goalie job he'd been waiting for. Toskala showed his mettle in Toronto over an 11-start stretch in late 2007, earning a pair of shutouts and a 7-3-0-1 record, allowing 18 goals while stopping 266 shots.

DANIEL SEDIN 2: The easiest way to tell the Sedin twins apart is right after the goal scores. Odds are, Daniel scored the goal, and Henrik delivered the assist. Daniel is the more prolific scorer of the two, but Henrik is the better playmaker - giving Vancouver a legitimate opportunity to score every time the "Sedin line" takes the ice.

DION PHANEUF: He's not the first "hitman" to come from Calgary, but Phaneuf has perfected his blue line defense with speed, strength, and a shoulder made of granite. The Flames' young defenseman is the proverbial immovable object, just looking to meet a resistible force at high speed.

NHL 20 is scheduled to arrive on shelves in December 2008.

McFarlane Releases Photos of NFL 2008 Wave 3

Repaint Series Features Popular Retro Uniform and Three Player Debuts

McFarlane has released photos of their NFL 2008 Wave 3 figures.

McFarlane Toys is changing things up for the 2008 NFL season, offering a third modern football line of Sports Picks for the first time since 2004. Four years ago, those three Sports Picks lines (NFL 8, 9 & 10) were released a little too close together - this year's Wave 3 is spaced into a mid-December release, intended to give NFL collectors something new as the season heads into the playoffs. This series features repaints only; no new sculpts are included.

Here are the NFL 2008 Wave 3 figures, featuring three Sports Picks debuts and one of the league's coolest retro uniforms:

Clinton Portis 2: Washington's dynamite running back was previously only available in this hurdling pose as part of a two-pack (the Ahman Green figure also used this pose). This version is available single-carded for the first time, and renovated into Washington's stylish throwback uniform.

Donald Driver: There's a lot of drama in Packers camp this summer, but none of it surrounds Driver. The classy veteran enters his 10th season looking to catch 1,000 yards of passes for the fifth straight year.

Jay Cutler: The leader of the re-vamped Broncos had a significant off-season, discovering (and revealing) his Type 1 diabetes. Now under treatment, Cutler believes he'll turn in a dominant season in Denver.

Marion Barber III: Barber has always been a dangerous part of the Cowboys' offense, but the exit of Julius Jones gives him the fulltime starting running back job for 2008. With Dallas an NFC playoff favorite, Barber will play a leading role.

2008 NFL Wave 3 is scheduled to arrive on shelves in mid-December.
